Junior Project Engineer

Reports to: Decommissioning Manager Supervises:

Projects (Tendering through to Execution)

Job Description

Job function/Scope:

  • Working closely with Decommissioning team, in the office and on-site, the
  • HSEQ oversight of project development through to execution
  • Client Contract management, including oversight of Administrative and Reporting activities
  • Assist with Project Planning – Cost, Time, Resources
  • Assist with Safe and Timely Execution of Contract Scope
  • Assist with Management of Project Costs and Budgets
  • In advance of projects the PE may be required to assist/coordinate with the compilation and submission of Tenders,
  • Assist with work shall begin in Office in Tender preparations, engineering development phase(s) through to execution on-site.
  • PE shall work alongside the Decommissioning Engineer on project requirements and would be supported by the Decommissioning Manager, HSEQ dept, Contracts dept and management.
  • For major projects the PE may be required to coordinate a support staff e.g: project admin, planner and QA support where appropriate.
  • PE would become the 1st point of contact for PSBS on-site, during development and operational phases of selected projects.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Support Decommissioning Team with Tender submissions and responses.

Manage engineering development of Project(s) through to onsite execution.

Steer project developments through obstacles and hurdles maintaining high HSEQ standards throughout. Methodical and Logical planning of operations with attention to detail and good problem solving capabilities are required.

Promote a high level of safety awareness, demonstrating leadership and commitment.

Monitor and control project costs and budgets.

Liaise with Client representatives and maintain good client/contractor relations.

In addition, the PE may be required to assist the Decommissioning Manager with building the Decommissioning Business and Decommissioning Business unit.

Liaise with Decommissioning Manager to maintain and improve customer relationships to ensure current business is maintained and promote the generation of new business.

This may include deputising for Decommissioning Manager, as and when required.

Qualifications in similar or relatable field.

Performance Measures

Successful completion of the 1st project, or major project phase, shall be used to measure performance.

Actual performance will be measured against the milestones and requirements of the project looking at project delivery in terms of HSEQ, operational efficiency and cost control.

Based in Shetland but travel through UK / Europe as may be required Decommissioning Strategy includes the marketing and development of decommissioning facilities in strategic locations around the North Sea. Travel to and from these locations for Client visits shall be required. Onsite Preparation and Execution phases: Based at Project Location(s) During on-site Project preparation and execution then the Project Engineer would be required to be on-site to oversee and coordinate the project requirements. Project locations would be dependent upon contract award but for example could be: Lerwick, Gt Yarmouth, Aberdeen, Netherlands, Norway, etc… Projects could be a few weeks to several months in duration. ‘Tours of duty’ could be for 3-4 weeks at a time.
