Tree Planting

As we celebrate 100 years in business, we recognise that honesty, integrity and respect for people, society and our environment have helped us achieve this centennial milestone, which our celebratory slogan ‘Growing together since 1920’ reflects. 

We also recognise the tree as a symbol of growth and strength and have embarked on a programme to plant a tree on behalf of each of our employees, as a gift to our communities around the world.

The first trees in the programme were planted on the roof of the Depot of Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, which the Company have been proud to sponsor for many years.  This was followed by teaming up with Staatsbosbeheer (The State’s Forest Management in the Netherlands) to plant 2,500 trees in the area.

Control Union Bangladesh successfully undertook two phases of tree planting, in July and September.  The second phase was launched in a school that plays a vital role in spreading education among the tribal children who live locally.  In this phase over 200 medicinal and fruit trees were planted. In addition to maintaining the ecological balance these trees will give a great financial support to the school authority as well as the students of that school.

Many more tree planting initiatives are planned across all our regions and locations througout the next year, and more than 5,000 trees will be planted in total.
